Flexible Metal Hose — Vibration, Noise & Thermal Expansion Isolation

The Flexible Metal Hose is a vibration-isolation connector designed to protect equipment from the damaging vibration, noise, and thermal expansion transmitted by pumps and compressors. Installed between the vibration source and related downstream equipment — such as a heat exchanger, cooler, or rigid piping — it flexes to absorb movement and thermal growth that would otherwise stress joints, loosen fittings, and shorten equipment life.

The hose itself is corrosion-resistant type 304 stainless steel, so it stands up to demanding fluid and environmental conditions. The connectors are carbon steel Schedule 40 with external NPT threads and hex-nut attachments on both ends for straightforward installation, and the couplings are welded to assure dependable, leak-free operation.

The Flexible Metal Hose is ideal for installation directly on a pump, compressor, or other vibration source — protecting TTP heat exchangers and cooling packages from vibration-induced fatigue. For long service life, it should be installed close to the vibration source and oriented with its length perpendicular to the direction of vibration, without compressing, twisting, or stretching the hose. TTP Application Engineering can help select the right size and length.

Frequently Asked Questions

It isolates damaging vibration, dampens noise, and absorbs thermal expansion between a pump or compressor and downstream equipment — protecting heat exchangers, piping, and fittings from vibration fatigue and thermal stress.

The hose is corrosion-resistant type 304 stainless steel. The connectors are carbon steel Schedule 40 with external NPT threads, and the couplings are welded for leak-free operation.

Hex-nut attachments on both ends make installation straightforward. For best results, install it directly on (or as close as possible to) the vibration source, with the hose length perpendicular to the direction of vibration.

Don’t compress, twist, or stretch the hose during installation — doing so causes premature failure. It must be free to flex along its length.

Welded couplings assure a dependable, leak-free connection under the continuous flexing and pressure the hose experiences in service.

Pumps, compressors, and their downstream equipment — commonly used to protect TTP heat exchangers and cooling packages from vibration transmitted through the piping.
