Case Drain Oil Cooler — Rear TEFC Motor-Mount, No Fan Required

The Thermal Transfer Products Industrial RM Series is a compact, low-cost, low-flow air-cooled oil cooler designed specifically for hydraulic case-drain cooling. It mounts on the rear of an existing TEFC (totally enclosed fan-cooled) electric motor and uses that motor’s own fan airflow to cool the oil — so it needs no fan or motor of its own, saving cost, space, and installation effort.

Its efficient design includes multiple-pass flow options as standard, and an adjustable mounting plate lets the cooler mate precisely with the electric motor’s fan (on the RM-19 and RM-22). Built with a copper-tube/aluminum-fin core, a protected steel cabinet, and a washable stainless air filter, it’s well suited to hydraulic power units where pump case-drain flow must be cooled without adding a dedicated cooling package.

The RM Series is offered in multiple sizes with SAE, NPT, or metric connections and mounting brackets included. TTP’s XSelector® sizing program — available online and as a mobile app — helps select the right model for your case-drain flow and heat load.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a compact, low-cost air-cooled oil cooler from Thermal Transfer Products built for hydraulic case-drain cooling. It mounts on the back of an existing TEFC electric motor and uses the motor’s fan airflow to cool the oil.

In a hydraulic system, pump and motor case drains carry a small, continuous flow of leakage oil that carries away heat. The RM is sized for that low flow, cooling the case-drain oil before it returns to the reservoir — helping control system temperature efficiently.

No. It mounts behind an existing TEFC motor and uses that motor’s cooling fan for airflow, which is what keeps it low-cost and compact.

It lets the cooler align and mate with the electric motor’s fan for proper airflow — specifically on the RM-19 and RM-22 models.

It’s a low-flow design with multiple-pass options as standard, letting you tune heat rejection for your case-drain circuit. Connections are available in SAE, NPT, or metric.

A copper-tube/aluminum-fin core with aluminum turbulators, a steel cabinet with baked-enamel finish, and a washable stainless-frame air filter. (Manifolds and connections are brass on the RM-08, steel on the RM-19 and RM-24.)
