Programmable Fan Controller & Temperature Sensor for DC Cooling Fans

The Thermal Transfer Products MAGHEX 2 is a compact, programmable fan controller and temperature sensor in a single aluminum housing — a smart, temperature-based controller for oil and coolant fan systems in mobile and industrial applications. It mounts directly to the heat exchanger and provides accurate temperature control by cycling the electric cooling fan to maintain the desired oil temperature.

Combining the sensor and controller in one housing reduces wiring and mechanical installation, and it integrates easily into the MA Series through any SAE #8 or 3/8″ – 1/2″ NPT ports. It creates a simple fan drive circuit with minimal programming, making it a low-cost alternative to complex control systems. The built-in temperature sensor activates the fan based on the current set point, and onboard LEDs indicate oil temperature status — below, at, or 20°F above the set point.

The MAGHEX 2 operates on 12 or 24 volt DC and controls loads up to 60 amps, with ten selectable temperature set points from 100° to 200°F (38° to 93°C). Setup and programming are done with the MAGHEX 2 magnetic wand, which is not required for normal operation. Consult the catalog for additional technical information.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a combined temperature sensor and fan controller from Thermal Transfer Products that mounts directly to a heat exchanger and cycles a DC cooling fan to maintain a target oil temperature — a smart, temperature-based control for oil and coolant fan systems.

A built-in sensor reads oil temperature and activates the fan based on the selected set point, cycling it to hold the desired temperature. LEDs show whether the oil is below, at, or 20°F above the set point.

It runs on 12 or 24 volt DC and controls fan loads up to 40 amps.

Ten selectable set points from 100° to 200°F (38° to 93°C).

The combined sensor/controller mounts in a single aluminum housing, cutting wiring and mechanical installation. It fits any SAE #8 port or cavity on an MA Series cooler and is programmed with the MAGHEX 2 magnetic wand — which isn’t needed for normal operation once set.

It’s designed for easy integration with the MA Series mobile oil coolers and their DC/brushless DC fans, as a low-cost alternative to complex control systems.
