The Thermal Transfer Products EC Series — the “Green Cooler” — is a high-capacity, water-cooled finned-tube shell and tube heat exchanger for hydraulic oil cooling. It’s the larger, higher-performance version of the EK Series, sharing the same finned-tube bundle core design but scaled up to handle flows up to 250 GPM for demanding, high-flow applications.
Its defining advantage is water efficiency: the aluminum finned-tube bundle adds substantial surface area, so the EC achieves high heat rejection while consuming far less cooling water than a conventional bare-tube shell and tube exchanger. That makes it an environmentally responsible, cost-saving choice wherever cooling water is metered, limited, or expensive — the reason it’s branded the Green Cooler.
An optional Surge-Cushion® bypass protects the core during cold starts and flow surges, and multiple material options let the EC serve a wide variety of applications, including sea water service. Maximum operating pressure is 300 PSI on the shell side. TTP’s XSelector® sizing program — available online and as a mobile app — helps select the right model for your oil flow, heat load, and cooling-water conditions.

It’s a high-capacity, water-cooled finned-tube shell and tube heat exchanger from Thermal Transfer Products, branded the “Green Cooler” for its low cooling-water usage. It cools hydraulic oil with water at high flow rates.
The aluminum finned-tube bundle provides extra surface area, so it rejects a lot of heat while using less cooling water than a conventional bare-tube exchanger — saving water and reducing operating cost.
They share the same finned-tube bundle design, but the EC is the larger, higher-performance version for higher-flow applications (up to 250 GPM), while the EK is the lower-cost, compact option for general-purpose hydraulic power units.
The larger EC sizes handle oil flows up to 250 GPM, with a maximum shell-side operating pressure of 300 PSI.
