The Thermal Transfer Products EK Series — the “Green Cooler” — is a water-cooled finned-tube shell and tube heat exchanger for hydraulic oil cooling, designed for industrial hydraulic power units and general-purpose systems. It’s the most efficient exchanger in TTP’s water-cooled lineup, and its low-cost, compact design makes it a practical everyday choice for general hydraulic power unit installations.
Its key advantage is water efficiency. The aluminum finned-tube bundle provides increased surface area, so the EK achieves high heat rejection while consuming far less cooling water than a conventional bare-tube shell and tube exchanger — an environmentally responsible, cost-saving benefit wherever cooling water is metered, limited, or expensive. Up to 400 HP (300 kW) of heat rejection is available.
An optional Surge-Cushion® bypass protects the core during cold starts and flow surges, when high-viscosity oil or sudden flow spikes would otherwise stress the exchanger. Sea water service options are available, and multiple material configurations let the EK suit a wide range of applications. TTP’s XSelector® sizing program — available online and as a mobile app — helps select the right model for your oil flow, heat load, and cooling-water conditions.

It’s a compact, low-cost water-cooled finned-tube shell and tube heat exchanger from Thermal Transfer Products, branded the “Green Cooler,” designed to cool hydraulic oil with water on industrial power units and general-purpose systems.
Its aluminum finned-tube bundle adds surface area, so it rejects heat efficiently while using less cooling water than a conventional bare-tube exchanger — saving water and reducing operating cost.

They share the same finned-tube bundle design. The EK is the compact, low-cost version for general-purpose power units; the EC is the larger, higher-performance version for high-flow applications up to 250 GPM. Choose EK for everyday installations, EC for higher capacity.
